The "Air Quality in Poland" application developed by the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection provides real-time data on air quality from automatic measurement stations operated under the National Environmental Monitoring Program (PMŚ). The application displays hourly measurements of particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and ozone (O3) in the form of a six-level index, ranging from "very good" to "very poor," indicating potential health impacts. Hourly measurements of carbon monoxide (CO) and benzene (C6H6) are presented through color-coded indicators of three sizes. Additionally, the application offers air quality forecasts for PM10, SO2, NO2, and O3.

Air quality information is presented via maps, charts, and detailed measurement summaries.

• Using internet access and location services, the app displays data from the nearest measurement station or from other selected stations.
• Provides air quality forecasts for the current day and the following two days across Poland.

Main Components:

• Nearest Station Data: Displays current pollutant concentrations from the station closest to the user.
• Current Data Map: Visualizes real-time pollution data from all automatic stations across Poland.
• Forecast Map: Shows predicted air quality for today and the next two days.
• Station Search: Lists operational PMŚ automatic stations with their addresses, allowing users to view specific station data.
• Alerts: Notifies users when pollutant levels exceed informational or alarm thresholds.
• News Section: Provides updates related to air quality, including new reports published by GIOŚ.
• Portal Redirect: Links directly to the GIOŚ air quality portal for further information.

The measurement results featured in the app are sourced from GIOŚ's national air quality database and are updated hourly based on data from PMŚ monitoring stations. The displayed data originates solely from automatic stations and are not interpolated; they are preliminary and may be subject to change upon verification. All data are presented in local time.

Air quality forecasts are prepared by the Institute of Environmental Protection - National Research Institute and receive daily updates.

Background GPS usage may lead to increased battery drain. The application requires an internet connection, and usage of mobile data may incur additional charges.

The app was developed by Evertop Sp. z o.o. for GIOŚ as part of the project "Strengthening the air quality assessment system in Poland based on Norwegian experiences," financed through the Operational Program PL03 "Enhancement of environmental monitoring and control activities," with funding from the EEA Financial Mechanism 2009-2014. Its development was further supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
